About the author: Born shortly after the Kingdom of Cambodia reclaimed its sovereignty from France, Keir Saramak nevertheless received a privileged French education. She left her native Phnom-Penh upon finishing high school in 1973. Since then she has been studying, working and in English-speaking societies. Currently, she resides in Toronto, Canada's most populous city.
